HVAC Install Lead

Description:
Job Summary: The HVAC Installation Lead is responsible for overseeing the installation of new units and replacement parts. They ensure work is completed according to our companyโs specifications and established safety guidelines. The lead installer of the install team is responsible for instructing team members and executing a professional install job. Our technicians will work with a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
ยท Install HVAC related equipment and accessories in accordance to the manufacturerโs specifications. Install gas lines, flue pipes, and wiring for both high and low voltage wiring applications as well as run flue liners.
ยท Install copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including soldering and brazing.
ยท Design, fabricate and install various ducts and duct fittings as necessary.
ยท Maintain a thorough knowledge of McWilliams' products and services.
ยท Properly connect gas lines to heating equipment.
ยท Perform start-ups on heating, cooling systems and other components.
ยท Perform limited diagnostics, as necessary.
ยท Train, coach and mentor Install Helpers to โข Braze copper joints without leaks. โข Pull vacuums on refrigerant systems and test for tightness. โข Install and program all versions of thermostats. โข Install, wire and plumb all IAQ products. Set an air conditioner, heat pump, furnace or air handler.
ยท Deliver equipment needed to complete the installation and remove old equipment.
ยท Effectively manage relationships with clients through clear communication, addressing all concerns, questions, or problems expediently.
ยท Effectively communicate with the client regarding questions, concerns and problems.
ยท Ensure the vehicle is stocked, accurately inventoried, kept clean and in safe working order.
ยท Return defective warranty parts to the branch.
ยท Inform a manager if the client does not have HVAC service before leaving the call.
ยท Facilitate rescheduling client appointments, if call is not complete.
ยท Accurately complete all required documentation on services performed including โcheck listโ. Inform a manager or team leader of any safety issues.
ยท Maintain a professional image at all times by wearing company approved uniforms.
ยท Maintain a courteous demeanor with clients and associates at all times.
ยท Abide by all standards of performance and ethics.
ยท Participate in company sponsored training classes and other duties as assigned.
ยท Follow all safety policies and procedures.
ยท Maintain safe working conditions of the install crew.
ยท Communicate the benefits of VIP Club Memberships.
ยท Manage callback ratios and labor margins.
Qualifications:
ยท High School diploma or GED is required.
ยท EPA Certified.
ยท NATE Certification is preferred.
ยท HVAC Certification or Diploma preferred.
ยท Have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable work experience in installation.
ยท Knowledge of the fundamental operational functionality of residential air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment, and installation and layout requirements of residential ductwork and fittings.
ยท Able to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot problems with refrigerant, electrical, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
ยท Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail.
ยท Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read a map or follow GPS.
ยท Valid driverโs license, and approved to drive by the company's insurance carrier.
ยท Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a desire to exceed client expectations and function in a team environment.
Working Conditions: Regularly works in indoor/outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures. Climbing, heavy lifting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching are required for this position. Ability to work in tight spaces such as attics and/or crawlspaces, ability to lift 50 pounds, to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items, occasionally work from heights 15 feet or higher above ground, have good visual acuity to see and focus close, at a distance, and with normal peripheral vision and normal depth perception.
